Job Summary

The Procurement Executive will be responsible for sourcing paddy and rice from key procurement regions in Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh, ensuring consistent quality, competitive pricing, and timely supply. The role requires a strong on-the-ground presence, mandi-level market intelligence, and supplier relationship management.

Key Responsibilities

Regional Procurement – Maharashtra & Chhattisgarh

• Handle end-to-end procurement of paddy and rice from mandis, farmers, traders, millers, and aggregators in Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh.
• Develop and maintain strong local supplier networks in major rice-growing belts and mandis of both states.
• Conduct regular field visits to procurement centers, mandis, and mills to assess quality and availability.
• Manage state-wise procurement planning as per crop season and market conditions.

Procurement & Negotiation

• Negotiate prices, payment terms, and delivery schedules to ensure cost-effective procurement.
• Procure rice varieties as per business/export requirements (Basmati / Non-Basmati / IR / Parboiled / Sella).
• Ensure timely availability of raw materials to avoid production or shipment delays.

Market Intelligence & Reporting

• Track daily arrivals, pricing trends, crop conditions, and government policies impacting rice procurement in Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh.
• Share regular market intelligence, price movements, and procurement forecasts with management.
• Monitor seasonality, MSP impact, and inter-state price variations.

Quality Control & Compliance

• Ensure procured paddy/rice meets defined quality parameters (moisture, broken %, grain length, foreign matter).
• Coordinate with quality, milling, and production teams for sampling, inspection, and approvals.
• Ensure adherence to FSSAI, APEDA, and other statutory norms, where applicable.

Logistics & Coordination

• Coordinate with logistics and warehouse teams for smooth movement from mandis/mills to warehouses or plants.
• Maintain proper documentation, including purchase orders, contracts, GRNs, and supplier records.
• Monitor inventory levels and ensure optimum stock maintenance.

Vendor Management

• Resolve supplier issues related to quality, shortages, delivery delays, and commercial disputes.
• Evaluate and improve supplier performance on a regular basis.
• Support onboarding of new suppliers and mills in both states.

Key Skills & Competencies

• Strong knowledge of rice procurement markets in Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh
• Understanding of mandi operations, MSP influence, and seasonal crop cycles
• Strong negotiation, communication, and relationship-building skills
• Ability to analyze market trends and price fluctuations
• Working knowledge of logistics, warehousing, and inventory control
• Proficiency in MS Excel and ERP systems

Educational Qualification

• Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Commerce, or Supply Chain Management or equivalent
• MBA / PG Diploma in Agribusiness or Supply Chain (preferred)

Experience

• 3–6 years of experience in rice or agri-commodity procurement
• Prior hands-on experience in Maharashtra and/or Chhattisgarh rice markets preferred

Location

• Field-based role with extensive travel across Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh
