Job Description
Position: Agronomist (Potato Specialist)
Location: Haryana / Punjab / UP (Field + Factory Coordination)
Industry: Frozen Food Manufacturing (French Fries & Potato Products)
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and manage farmer networks across UP, Haryana, and Punjab
- Guide farmers on best agronomy practices (seed, irrigation, fertilisers)
- Ensure quality control of potatoes (dry matter, size, defects).
- Conduct field trials & crop monitoring
- Procurement & Commercial Role
- Direct purchase of potatoes from farmers/aggregators
- Negotiate rates, quantities, and supply timelines
- Ensure cost-effective procurement aligned with company targets
- Plan harvesting schedules and lifting operations
- Maintain relationships with key farmers for long-term supply
- Coordinate between farmers, procurement team, and factory
- Reduce rejection and improve processing yield
- Maintain crop and sourcing data
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- B.Sc / M.Sc in Agriculture (Agronomy / Horticulture preferred)
- 3–8 years experience (Potato preferred)
- Strong experience in farmer sourcing + procurement
- Knowledge of contract farming and mandi dynamics
- Willingness to travel extensively
- Strong negotiation & communication skills
