Role Summary
The Electrical Maintenance Head will be responsible for managing and maintaining all electrical systems, utilities, and automation equipment in a sheet metal manufacturing plant. This role ensures maximum machine uptime, electrical safety compliance, effective energy management, and smooth operation of CNC machines, welding lines, paint shop equipment, and utilities.
Key Responsibilities
1. Electrical Maintenance & Operations
Lead and supervise electrical maintenance activities for:
CNC laser cutting machines (Fiber Laser, CO₂ Laser)
CNC bending machines (Press Brakes)
Turret punching machines
Hydraulic and pneumatic presses
MIG/TIG welding machines and robotic welding lines
Shearing machines, rolling machines, and spot welders
Powder coating and paint shop ovens, conveyors, and utilities
Maintain and troubleshoot HT/LT systems, power distribution panels, MCCs, VFDs, PLC panels, transformers, DG sets, and compressors.
Ensure quick fault diagnosis and rectification to minimize production downtime.
2. Preventive & Predictive Maintenance
Plan and implement preventive maintenance schedules for all electrical and automation equipment.
Perform predictive maintenance using thermography, IR scans, and vibration monitoring (motors).
Maintain maintenance logs, SOPs, checklists, and equipment history records.
Handle complete electrical panel maintenance and ensure adherence to safety standards.
Ensure strong foundational knowledge of industrial electrical systems.
3. Energy Management
Monitor and optimize power consumption of:
Laser cutting machines
Compressors
Paint shop and oven equipment
Air handling and exhaust systems
Improve power factor, manage capacitor banks, and reduce peak load consumption.
Prepare energy consumption reports and implement improvement initiatives.
4. Breakdown & Troubleshooting Management
Respond promptly to breakdowns to prevent disruption of production lines.
Diagnose and resolve issues related to PLCs, VFDs, servo motors, encoders, sensors, and safety circuits.
Ensure availability and management of critical electrical spares.
Key Skills & Competencies
Strong knowledge of electrical systems in sheet metal fabrication and CNC machining plants
Expertise in PLCs, VFDs, MCC panels, and industrial automation
Understanding of safety circuits, interlocks, sensors, and machine controls
Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems (preferred)
Excellent troubleshooting and breakdown management skills
Ability to work in fast-paced manufacturing environments
Team handling and leadership capabilities
Qualifications & Experience
Education: ITI / Diploma in Electrical Engineering or Industrial Electrical
Experience:
3–4 years of experience in industrial electrical maintenance
1–3 years of experience in sheet metal manufacturing or CNC machine maintenance in a leadership role
