Firmware Engineer – EV Charging

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Firmware Engineer to join our EV Charging Systems development team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience working with STM32 / ESP32 microcontrollers, real-time embedded firmware, and communication protocols essential for modern EV chargers. You will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, and optimizing firmware for AC/DC chargers, onboard modules, metering, protection, and communication interfaces.
Key Responsibilities:
Firmware Development:
• Design and implement embedded firmware for EV chargers (AC/DC, CCS, Type-2, Type- 6, DC fast chargers).
• Develop and maintain applications using STM32 (Cortex-M) / ESP32 (Xtensa/RISC- V) microcontroller platforms.
• Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code in C/C++ following MISRA or industry guidelines.
• Implement drivers and HAL layers for peripherals such as:
CAN / CAN-FD (FDCAN, TWAI)
SPI, I2C, UART
Timers, ADC, PWM, DMA
Ethernet / Wi-Fi (ESP32)
System Architecture & RTOS:
• Build real-time applications using FreeRTOS or other RTOS platforms.
• Develop multi-tasking architectures with queues, mutexes, semaphores, event groups, and timers.
• Optimize system-level performance, memory usage, and CPU load.
• Implement state machines for charging workflow (ex: PLC, ISO 15118/61851 sequencing, rectifier control, protection logic). EV Charger Embedded Functionality
• Develop firmware for:
Contactor control, pilot signal handling, PP/CP measurement.
Charge controller logic for AC Type-2 / DC CCS charging.
