Electronics Hardware Design Engineer (EV- Charging)

Job Description:
1. Hardware Design & PCB Development:

• Design schematics and multilayer PCBs for EV charge controllers using tools like Altium Designer, KiCAD, or Eagle.
• Optimize PCB layouts for power handling, EMI/EMC compliance, thermal management, and signal integrity.

2. Communication Interfaces & Protocols:
• Integrate CAN (Controller Area Network), UART, RS-485, SPI, and I2C for reliable data exchange.
• Develop robust communication bus architectures for real-time monitoring and control of charge controllers.
• Work with ISO 15118, IEC 61851, and OCPP protocols for EV charging communication.

3. Power & Analog Circuit Design:
• Implement current sensing (shunt, Hall sensors), RCD (Residual Current Device), and fault detection mechanisms.
• Design DC-DC converters, SMPS, power monitoring circuits, and charger protection systems.

4. Prototyping, Testing & Validation:
• Conduct PCB bring-up, debugging, and hardware validation using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and network analyzers.
• Perform EMI/EMC testing, surge protection testing, and thermal analysis. Work closely with firmware engineers to integrate and debug embedded hardware.

5. Compliance & Safety Standards:
• Ensure PCB designs meet IEC, UL, and ISO safety standards for EV charging applications.
• Implement ESD protection, isolation techniques, and regulatory compliance in hardware
designs.

6. Collaboration & Documentation:
• Work with cross-functional teams (firmware, mechanical, and power electronics engineers) to ensure seamless system integration.
• Prepare detailed design documentation, BOM (Bill of Materials), and test reports.

Required Qualification:
Education: Bachelor’s/Master’s in Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Embedded Systems.
Experience: 2-5 years in hardware design, PCB development, and EV charger electronics (preferred).
• PCB Design Tools: Altium Designer, KiCad, Eagle, ORCAD, PADS, etc.
• Communication Protocols: CAN, CAN FD, UART, SPI, I2C, RS-485, MODBUS.
• Power Electronics: Experience with DC-DC converters, SMPS, surge protection, relays/contactors.
• Testing & Debugging: Hands-on experience with oscilloscopes, multimeters, CAN analyzers, and EMI/EMC compliance testing.
• Standards & Regulations: Knowledge of ISO 15118, IEC 61851, UL 2231, ISO 17409.
